Connexus and Elan Credit Card Support Local Nonprofit Through Special Volunteer Event

At Connexus, our commitment to the communities we serve shines through our philanthropic program, Connexus Cares. This program enables us to provide financial support to organizations making an impact while offering employees the opportunity to give back through Volunteer Time Off.

In September, Connexus joined Elan Credit Card (Elan), one of our partners, for a special volunteer event at The Neighbors’ Place, a local nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to food, diapers, and other basic necessities.  

This event followed a $12,500 donation that the Elan Charitable Giving program made to The Neighbors’ Place earlier in the year on behalf of Connexus.

Held during National Diaper Need Awareness Week, the event highlighted Connexus and Elan’s shared commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of local families.

The Special Volunteer Event

In September, team members from Connexus and Elan gathered at The Neighbors’ Place to sort and package over 8,000 diapers and assemble 125 potty-training kits, which included a potty, picture book, stickers, and other essential resources.

The Neighbors’ Place distributes these kits to local families to help them transition their children out of diapers and alleviate the financial burden.

Elizabeth Robinson, the Community Engagement Manager for The Neighbors’ Place, shared, “The potty-training kits will be distributed alongside potty-training classes led in collaboration with a pediatrician and family case manager or public health nurse.”

She continued, “We see many families picking up diapers for children who are at an age where they are often showing signs of readiness for potty-training and feel this is an integral part of fighting diaper need—giving caregivers the tools to effectively support their children with potty-training while also connecting them to other families at a similar stage.”

In addition to the hands-on volunteer efforts, the Elan Charitable Giving program donated an additional $5,000 to The Neighbors’ Place during the event on behalf of Connexus, and Connexus Cares matched Elan’s $5,000 donation.

In total, Elan and Connexus Cares contributed $22,500 to further the work of The Neighbors’ Place in the Wausau community.
